Welcome to English as a Second Language!!
Our Mission - “Teaching and improving English speaking skills for work, family, and independent life in the United States” In the 2010-2011 school year, the ESL program served over 50 active students in the day and evening programs, with at least 25 countries represented in the student population.
Services Provided: An assessment of students’ current level of spoken English, using the nationally recognized BEST Plus Assessment, developed by the Center for Applied Linguistics. · Intensive instruction at 3 skill levels from trained and experienced ESL teachers. · Access to the Center’s 10 station computer lab with internet access. · Individualized tutoring to accomplish particular student goals and off-site classes for 5 or more students. These are provided on an “as needed” basis. · Free attendance to the Center’s community education classes on computer skills, resume writing and financial management. · Access to the Center’s community resource referral guide. · Citizenship tutoring upon request.
Registration Information: Day students may enter the first week of any session 17 week session. Evening students may enter during the first two weeks of any session. Individuals should arrive 20 minutes before class time to complete the registration form and take the speaking test. $85 per semester (2), plus textbook $20 Childcare for day classes is currently available for ages 0-5 years old. Teaching experience is preferred, but not required. All tutors are asked to agree to teach one, two-hour class, for one academic year (typically September to May).
