Students in grades K-5 come from local downtown schools to find help and support with their homework. Reading skills are stressed daily as well as math and organizational skills to improve their school success. Homework is followed by a daily enrichment activity ranging from art and computer class to community service and reading improvement. Many College of Charleston students who commit to at least one day a week as a tutor/mentor for the AS Kids participants support this program.
“AS Kids” meets Mondays through Thursdays from 3:15-5:45 pm during the school year.
Volunteer tutor / mentors are needed: A minimum once a week commitment, criminal background checks and training is required. For more information regarding your child's enrollment or volunteering with the program, contact Sarah-Kate Magee.
